About The Foundation In 1985 members of the Dallas Police Association formed the Wish Upon A Star Foundation to meet the critical needs of, or grant special wishes for chronically or terminally ill children. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to exhausting every available resource to provide as much happiness as possible for each of these very special kids! How We Find The Children Referrals from across Dallas county and local communities are accepted by the Foundation. Our efforts are coordinated through hospital administrators and social service agencies. Besides hospital visits, the Foundation also provides specialized medical equipment which allows special needs children to return home to the comfort of familiar surroundings. An All Volunteer Effort Dallas Police Association volunteers delight the kids with stories, gifts and lots of loving fun. The foundation is led and administered by an all volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of Dallas police officers.
